ICONS OF WESTON
AN ONGOING PROJECT COMMISSIONED BY CULTURE WESTON
NOV 2021 - CURRENT
As part of the 21st Century Super Shrines project in Weston-Super-Mare, I was commissioned to create four icons, over the stretch of the four-year project, each celebrating the artist who had worked with Weston in that year. The icon celebrated them and the contents of their workshops within the community. The first icon, of artist Morag Myerscough, was devoted to her pet dog Elvis and displayed alongside instructions on how to 'Create Your Own Pet Icon' with an accompanying video online. The second icon celebrated performance artist Tom Marshman and the contents of his workshop aimed at elevating LGBTQ+ voices within the town. There was 'Create Your Own Queen Icon' instructions displayed beside. The final years will celebrate artists Chila Burman and Megan Clark-Bagnell.
