FUTURE RADICALS

A PROJECT COMMISSIONED BY CULTURE WESTON, WESTON-SUPER-MARE

AUG 2021

Future Radicals was an exciting summer project working with the young people of South Ward in Weston to reimagine their town, throwing the rule book out the window and challenging the notion that ‘adults know best'. Artists Carson Parkin-Fairley and Ramona Bigwood ran a week’s worth of colourful and creative workshops, to gather research on how the future of residents of the town would like to see it changed. It consisted of three workshops; The What Could WorkShop, the Manifesto Workshop, Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary and The Future Buildings Workshop. It culminated in an window display of the young people's work, and a mini exhibition of the work within the local shopping centre, where the young people involved were invited to bring along their family and friends to show them, before joining us on a march around town with their manifesto banners.
